π€Whatβs a thermographic survey you may ask?
A thermographic survey is undertaken using thermal imaging cameras which detect heat. They allow our inspectors to find any weaknesses (also known as βHotspotsβ) within electrical components. It also provides an in-depth look at testing and helps to detect any risks that have been missed from a visual inspection.
Whenever Guardian undergo a fixed wire inspection and testing programme, thermographic surveys are always included for free as part of our complete managed compliance service.
Why is undergoing a thermographic survey so important?
π₯ High temperatures within electrical components can often indicate potential risks.
π₯ Common causes of electrical failures of electrical components include fatigue, contamination, defective components, or loose connections.
π₯ A common outcome of all failing components is a rise in temperature prior to failure. This can lead to a fire risk, especially with a build-up of flammable materials such as dust.
What is included in a Guardian thermographic survey?
β A comprehensive thermal imaging report.
β Explanations of the causes of identified problems.
β Listing of all equipment surveyed for reference purposes (in accordance with EaWR 1989 and BS7671:2018).
