During one of our recent site visits, our Inspectors came across this incredibly rusty Distribution Board! At further inspection, it is evident that not only this DB, but also its surrounding area have all been taken victim of the rust. Why may you ask? Well, this specific site is located by the side of an estuary which could explain the high level of exposure that Is present within this room, causing the huge level of corrosion.
🧾Due to the damage and corrosion of this board, this welcomes the potential of water, dust, or other material ingress. Therefore, to be compliant with Regulation 522.4.2, this board would need ‘additional precautions’ to ‘prevent the accumulation of dust or other substances in quantities which could adversely affect heat dissipation from the wiring system’.
