During a recent inspection and testing programme one of our inspectors discovered this damaged electrical fitting for an outdoor plug socket, with exposed wiring. 🔌
This hazard shows the importance of regular inspection and testing on-site, as this damaged plug socket had not been reported previously. The Guardian team isolated the circuit, informed the duty holder and took the necessary remedial action. 💭
Damaged plug sockets and a broken electrical fitting can be extremely dangerous and expose risks to all involved. Fires or electrocution could be a consequence of such a fault. By enclosing wires, the fittings provide physical protection against mechanical impact, moisture, dust, and corrosive substances. This is increasingly important when located outside.⚡
