During a recent inspection and testing programme, one of our inspectors probably wanted to cry at the state of this scene!
When showing this image to the office, so many regulations came up in quick succession, the list was endless! So many in Part 5 “Selection & Erection of Equipment” again and also 134.1.1 makes another appearance! “Good workmanship by one or more skilled or instructed persons and proper materials shall be used in the erection of the electrical installation.”
This is a great demonstration of why solid workmanship is important and should not be an afterthought. Had 134.1.1 been thought about and applied correctly, most of the other issues would likely not have arisen – it’s not just about being aesthetically pleasing (though that is another big benefit!)
Along with tidying the wiring, these issues could first be sorted by removing the old isolator enclosure and providing the correct termination in the correct junction box (big clue on where we were going with Part 5).
