Fridays Find – Find of the Year! 🤯
Where the film industry has the Oscars, and the music industry has the Grammys. We’re starting off this new year looking back on 2023 and awarding this spot ‘Find of the Year’! 🥳
One of our inspectors came across this live conductor found in metal socket outlet, which should ring alarm bells in anyone’s mind, but this doesn’t even explain the main fault! 🤯
This is a live, unterminated conductors with no CPC fly lead, and it was identified in metal clad double socket outlet. The socket was supplied via multi-core SWA cable, connected to several separate ways within the distribution board, with no single point of overcurrent protection for the conductors. Essentially, this is fatally dangerous. ⚡
So, since the live wiring is not separated from the conductive metal socket it is not compliant with Regulation 412.2.2.1 “The electrical equipment being ready for operation, all conductive parts separated from live parts by basic insulation only, shall be contained in an insulating enclosure affording at least the degree of protection IPXXB or IP2X.” 🧾
Of course, the client was informed, and the socket was made safe. However, without our trusted Guardian staff, this would have remained in its dangerous, unnoticed state. 🦺
